When you appreciate its situation you will understand
that it makes Valle de Abdalajís a strategic
point between the sierra of Guadalhorce - a
straight road to the coast to the province of
Málaga as well to the locality of Antequera,
a staging post between High and Low Andalucia.
We can safely say that its situation and the
climatic conditions that exist in the area around
Valle de Abdalajís make it an ideal sport
for the practice of any country sport such as
parascending, hand gliding, hiking, climbing,
walking.
Owing to its position and excellent thermals
it has acquired the name of the Capital of Flight.

ANTEQUERA:
Antequera a town situated at the main crossroads
of communications in Andalucia has been and
is now a “must” for all travellers.
Owing to its strategic position it is called
“the heart of Andalucia”. It is
the biggest town in province of Málaga
except for the capital 30 minutes away.
Its mains characteristics:
1. the existence of many urban and rural entities.
2. the presence of a vast diversity of natural
parks and productive areas.
3. the construction of road networks of great
importance in the structure of the area both
urban and regional.
Antequera is situated at 509.27 metres above
sea level. You may be surprised by many facets
of Antequera – the Bronze remains -
the dolmens – the Romans remains –
vestiges of the Visigoths and Muslims as well
as the fine examples of renaissance and Andalucian
baroque.
The site offers splendid magnificent parks,
El Chorrro, El Torcal.
Its urbanisation – supplied by more
and more services and its flourishing agrarian
commercial and industrial economy have made
Antequera and ideal place to live. Although
fairly close to the sea it is an inland town.
The sierra del Torcal separates it from any
maritime influence- giving it a temperate
climate with a tendency to a continental one
with cold winters and hot summers. Antequera
has a population of 43.000 habitants distributed
in various zones – the town of Antequera
with a population of about 30.000 and to the
rest divided between the surrounding villages
Villanueva de la Concepción, Bobadilla,
Cartaojal, Vva de Cauche, La Joya, Los Nogales.
As we said before Antequera is an inland small
town, reflecting the character of citizens
having a domestic and intimate side caring
for and decorating their houses – infact
some of the dwellings would surprise us so
beautiful are the interiors.
Antequera is a town of hidden patios glimpsed
through portals, inaccessible convents, closed
churches and individual palaces in whose interiors
is to be found the richest artistic patrimony
most of which is undiscovered by many and
difficult to access. A modern town which is
developing golf courses, good communication
system and plans for the creation of an airport.
